Miss Mable Callahan and her father, T. J. Callahan, will leave soon for a tour through the west.

Mrs. W. H. Sapp, Mrs. E. H. Gunn and Mrs. W. A. Trimble visited friends in Decatur Thursday.

Mrs. Morris Mitchell and little son, Jack, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Grayot this week.

Are pleased to note that Master Charles Streeter, who was right sick for the past few days, is out again.

Mrs. Edna Herrin Streeter and little son, Charles, will spend next week with friends in Birmingham.

Miss Anna Teague returned home Monday after spending the weekend with Mrs. John Smith in Decatur.

Rev. and Mrs. H. E. Henning and baby of Bristow, Tenn., spent the weekend in Cullman as the guests of friends and relatives.

Claude Griffin is spending a few days in New York. Mr. Griffin is connected with the Fairchild Aeroplane Co., as sales manager.

Mrs. Schnieder, nee Nola Watson, will return to her home in Bessemer early next week after a visit with relatives in Cullman.

E. H. Gunn will arrive the latter part of the week to spend a two-week vacation after which he with his family will be in Detroit, Mich.

Mr. and Mrs. Shepard of Bessemer, spent last weekend in Cullman with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Scott, on Quality Hill.

Mr. Hodges, a leading and prosperous planter of Guntersville, spent a few days of the past week in the city with his sister, Mrs. J. R. Rosson.

Dr. and Mrs. Wallace Cullpepper and little son of Atlanta, are spending a few days with their mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Cullpepper in Cullman.

Miss Doris Grayot, who has been the guest of her sister, Mrs. Morris Mitchell in Sheffield for the past two weeks, returned home Sunday afternoon.

Byron Gibson spent last weekend with relatives in Decatur.

Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Gibson and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gibson of Decatur, spent Sunday afternoon in the city as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Gibson.

Mrs. L. G. Buckner and daughter, Miss Estelle of Atlanta, Ga., are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Stisher on Cullman route eight. Mrs. Buckner is a sister of Mr. Stisher and she and her daughter will spend the summer with Mr. and Mrs. Stisher.

S. M. Lovelady, district Masonic lecturer, attended the funeral services of Luther Crumbley at Holly Pond Wednesday and conducted the Masonic burial services of the deceased brother for the Holly Pond Masonic Lodge members of which Mr. Crumbley was an esteemed member.

Cal Whatley, of Birmingham, spent a few hours in Cullman Tuesday morning shaking hands with many old friends of boyhood days and a short visit to his sisters, Mrs. T. N. Allen and Mrs. Tom Shoemaker. Mr. Whatley was en route to Holly Pond to attend the funeral of his uncle, W. O. Bailey, who died Monday.

CENTER POINT NEWS

Leona, Tenn., R. 2, June 25.—The continued rains have drowned the dry ground. The farmers badly in the grass. The ground hasn’t been dry enough to plow for three weeks.

The death angel visited our community last Thursday and claimed for its victim, Naney Stephens. Her body was laid to rest in the Center Point cemetery Friday. Her many relatives and friends around here will be sorry to hear of her death. Rev. Ben Jones held funeral services. T. A. Stouts, undertaker, in charge.

Mr. and Mrs. Lewis McAfee, Martin Chance and family visited Mrs. A. C. O’Rear Sunday.

A. B. Kempson and wife of Leona, Tenn. R. 2, are visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Kempson of this place.

Mrs. Dewey Walker left Sunday to visit her mother in Cullman.

Miss Ira Stephenson spent Sunday night with Miss Georgia McAfee.

Miss Mary McAfee visited Miss Lillie Chance recently.

Ettolia, little daughter of Mrs. Mattie Bently, is on the sick list.

Little Kenneth Chance is still sick.

Mrs. Elmer Ragland of Akron, is visiting her mother, Mrs. R. L. Justice of this place.

Clinton Jennings and wife attended Children’s Day at Center Point Sunday.

Willis George Chance spent Sunday night with his grandfather, L. H. McAfee.

Miss Letha Gleaton attended the funeral of Aunt Nancy Stephenson Friday.

Mrs. Mattie Bently visited Lillie Chance Saturday evening.

PAN AM NEWS

Cullman, R. 2, June 25.—Business is picking up around this place.

We are glad to say that we have a new school building started. It is placed upon the big road, with three acres of land. We hope to have one of the best schools of the county.

The singing given by Bessie James Sunday night was not a success on account of the cloud.

Bill Nall called on Velma Harper Sunday afternoon.

Allen Chance, Nellie Golden, Floyd Hulsey and Flora James motored to Ebenezer Sunday.

Jack Golden called on Ruth Harper Sunday.

Dessie, Dora and Bessie James and Truman Ryan spent Sunday with Carl Chance.

Allen Chance called on Nellie Golden Sunday night.

Everybody remember that the third Sunday in July is our all day singing at Center Grove on the old harp. Everybody come.

GOLD RIDGE NEWS

Cullman, R. 2, June 25.—Health in Gold Ridge is just fine at present.

It seems as if the farmers are going to make no crop. We are having so much rain that they are unable to work their crops.

Fishing is the order of these wet days.

The Gold Ridge people are thriving. Ever having our school moved on the big road.

The girls of Gold Ridge want to pull together and get us a club. We are just wishing this can be to one among the best terms of school.

Jim Chance is visiting his brother, Will Chance.

Jack Golden and Bill Nalls called on Miss Velma and Ruth Harper Sunday.

Carl Chance, who has been confined to his room for near three months, spent the week end with Jack Golden. His many friends hope he will soon be able to be out among them again. Carl is a boy that is loved by everybody and has been missed since he has been sick.

Mr. and Mrs. Offie Oaks spent Sunday night with Mr. and Mrs. D. M. McLung.

Mr. and Mrs. Pete Walker made a special trip to Tennessee the past week.

Tressie Chance was the Saturday evening guest of Lula and Nellie Golden.

Jack Stewart called on Myrtle Scott Sunday night.

Lula Brunson and Myrtle Scott motored to Ebenezer Sunday.

UNION GROVE NEWS

Holly Pond R. 1, June 25.—The farmers of this place are looking blue as we are having a lot more rain.

Rev. Pharr filled his regular appointment at this place Sunday and delivered an able sermon.

The ice cream supper at F. S. Easterwood’s home Saturday night was enjoyed by quite a number.

Rev. Pharr and family spent Saturday night with Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Mabrey.

Almus Cox and wife, Lillie Murphree and two little daughters spent Saturday night with Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Easterwood.

The singing Sunday afternoon at this place was enjoyed by all present.

Enoch Walker was the Sunday escort of Miss Lois Mabrey.

Claude Bailey and Ressie and Hester Gladley of Brooklyn attended the singing at this place Sunday afternoon.

Grady McGriff was the Sunday afternoon escort of Miss Eron Cox.

Worthia Whited escorted Miss Leora Cox home from the singing Sunday afternoon.
