HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Wallace State Community College is seeking area employers to participate in an event designed to introduce young women to job opportunities in skilled trades.
The second Jill of All Trades event will be held at the college Sept. 18, 2026, from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Female students in grades 9-12 will learn about rewarding careers in the skilled trades and technical fields. Workshop Partners who participate in the event will provide hands-on experiences for participating students, serve as mentors by offering insights into their area of expertise and highlight careers opportunities in fields not traditionally associated with female employment.
During the event, students will select a Workshop Pathway based on their interests. Pathways include:
- Careers that Fab, Cut and Automate Pathway (Machine Tool, Welding and Robotics)
- Careers that Build Communities Pathway (Electrical, Hotel, Agriculture)
- Careers in Motion Pathway (Automotive, Diesel, CDL, Aviation)
- Survey It. Operate it. Connect It Pathway. (Land Survey, Heavy Equipment, Fiber Optics)
Event organizers say that, in addition to inspiring young women to explore career opportunities, Jill of All Trades provides businesses with an opportunity to increase awareness of their companies and build a talent pipeline by connecting them with future employees.
“Today’s students are tomorrow’s workforce, and events like Jill of All Trades help bridge the gap between education and industry,” said Adam West, career services specialist at Wallace State. “We’re excited to bring employers and students together to showcase the high-demand, high-wage career opportunities available right here in our region.”
Support for Jill of All Trades is also being sought through Community Sponsor opportunities. All Workshop Partners and Community Sponsors will receive a display table at the Industry Showcase held during the event, where they can share career opportunities and connect with students.
