HANCEVILLE — Wallace State flag football has yet to experience a loss.
As the Lady Lions prepare for the 2026 Alabama Community College Conference season, they will do so carrying a 26-game winning streak, a run that already places the second-year program among the longest documented streaks in collegiate flag football.
Wallace State went 20-0 during its inaugural ACCC season in the fall of 2025, completing the unbeaten campaign with a 27-6 victory over Shelton State in the conference championship game.
The Lady Lions added six more victories during spring competition, pushing the program’s all-time record to 26-0 entering the 2026 season.
Four of those spring victories came at Clemson University’s Tiger Town Showdown. Wallace State defeated NC State 67-0 and Clemson 39-18 in pool play before beating Coastal Carolina 58-0 in the semifinals. The Lady Lions then defeated Clemson 13-12 in the championship game.
Despite everything Wallace State accomplished during its inaugural season, Lady Lions head coach Daniel Howard said the focus has shifted toward what the program can accomplish next.
“I am excited about what the new season has in store for my team,” Howard said. “We had a good run last season, but I feel we can take it to the next level.
“We are putting last year behind us and are working to reach new heights this season.”
The undefeated run also earned Wallace State national recognition. The Lady Lions finished No. 20 in the final Women’s College Flag Football Top 25, with their 26-0 record standing out among programs from across the country.
Wallace State’s streak becomes even more notable when placed alongside some of the longest documented runs in college flag football.
Florida Gateway College previously won 26 consecutive games across the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Florida Gateway won the inaugural NJCAA championship in 2023 and continued its streak into the following season before Thomas University defeated the Timberwolves 19-7 on Feb. 24, 2024.
Florida Gateway went on to finish the 2024 season 15-1 and captured a second consecutive NJCAA national championship.
That means Wallace State enters 2026 having matched Florida Gateway’s 26-game winning streak.
The longest documented streak Wallace State is chasing belongs to Ottawa University in Kansas.
Ottawa put together a 39-game winning streak spanning the 2024, 2025 and 2026 seasons. The Braves won their final nine games of 2024, went 23-0 while capturing the NAIA national championship in 2025 and then opened the 2026 season with seven more victories.
Kansas Wesleyan ended Ottawa’s streak with a 21-20 victory on March 24, 2026.
Wallace State therefore enters the season 13 victories shy of matching Ottawa’s 39-game run.
Another current streak belongs to Warner University, which completed a perfect 24-0 season in 2026 while winning the Sun Conference regular-season and tournament championships along with the NAIA national championship.
That leaves Wallace State with a 26-game active streak compared with Warner’s 24-game run.
Because collegiate flag football is still developing across the NJCAA, NAIA, NCAA schools and club competition, there is not yet a single all-divisions record book tracking consecutive victories. The streaks are therefore best described as the longest documented runs rather than official national records.
Still, Wallace State’s place among them is clear.
In just one year of competition, the Lady Lions have won an ACCC championship, added a major spring tournament title and won each of the first 26 games in program history.
They now enter their second season tied with Florida Gateway for one of the longest documented winning streaks in collegiate flag football and with Ottawa’s 39-game run providing the next major benchmark.
