CULLMAN – Two bomb threats were made in Cullman County Thursday morning, one at West Point Schools and the other at Yutaka Technologies in Cullman. Nothing was found at either location.

Investigators with the Cullman County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) searched the schools in West Point room by room.

"We have cleared the schools," said a CCSO spokesman. "We didn't find anything, but deputies will remain at the schools for the rest of the day just as a precaution."

Said Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry, "We received a call about a threat to the school and responded immediately, putting our procedures in place for the safety of the children, which is our top priority. Somebody called in and alluded to there potentially being a threat this morning. We take these threats very seriously."

Cullman Police Department Assistant Chief Craig Montgomery said,"Yutaka had received some information about an explosive device. They did a search and are back up and running now. It turned out to be a false threat. The threat wasn't called in. A conversation was overheard. Some words were heard that caused the supervisors out there to take action."

Montgomery said the incident happened at approximately 8 a.m.

"The facility manager there was in charge," he said. "We assisted and helped them. It was a collaborative effort."

Authorities do not yet know if the two incidents are connected.

Said Montgomery, "We sent some guys down to the sheriff's office to follow up and see if they are related."
