Holister Lynn “Pete” Hughes, age 50, passed away on September 2, 2026.
Holly was born on April 24, 1976, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She spent her early years there, later living in New Orleans and Indiana, before eventually settling in Alabama. Wherever life took her, Holly brought warmth, laughter, and a spirit that made people feel at home.
Holly had a deep love for her animals and found joy in cooking for others. She spent time working in restaurant kitchens, where she shared her passion for food and care for others through every meal she prepared. She was known for her loving and fun personality, her quick wit, and a sense of humor that could brighten even the hardest days. Holly was selfless to her core—often going without so that others could be cared for. She truly never met a stranger, and those who crossed her path were better for knowing her.
She leaves behind her beloved grandparents, Rayburn and Lucy Randolph; her father, Douglas Hughes (Marie Smith); her brother, DJ Hughes (Jessica); and her cherished niece and nephew, Cerilene Roe and Dewey Hughes. She is also lovingly remembered by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends.
Holly was preceded in death by her grandmother, Nora Brown, and her mother, Patricia Hughes.
Holly’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Her kindness, laughter, and giving spirit will never be forgotten.
