HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Wallace State answered an early deficit with three unanswered first-half goals to defeat Calhoun 3-1 Saturday evening.
Calhoun opened the scoring, but Juan Gazga pulled the Lions even by converting a penalty kick.
Wallace State moved in front when Santiago Acosta scored from an assist by Jamex Leon. Kaisei Abram then extended the lead to 3-1 after taking a pass from Yaya Jawneh.
Neither team scored during the second half.
Wallace State goalkeeper Emrik Senécal played all 90 minutes and recorded two saves.
The victory improved the Lions to 4-1. Wallace State is scheduled to host East Mississippi Community College at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12.
