Each week, we're going to share a few items from The Cullman Tribune's archives. It may not be "important" news, but we think it's interesting to see what was "news" at different points in history. And who knows? Maybe someone from your family will show up!

 

From the Files of 1904:

M.L. Robertson is on a visit to his former home in Maryland.

Leroy McEntire and family will leave next week for the fair in Saint Louis.

Miss Lovella Hanlin has accepted a position as music teacher in Jackson, Mississippi.

W.T. Brittain returned Tuesday, from a trip to Georgia.

Miss Fannie Rosson will leave Wednesday for Montevallo, where she will attend school.

John Patjens and family, now of Decatur, visited old friends here, this week.

Seed cotton is selling for $3.30 per hundred.

William Richard has returned from an extended trip through Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan, on immigration business.

D.H. Alvis, who has been quite ill, is much improved.

Miss Lena Higgins is very ill with fever.

A.J. Nix’s singing class will attend the all-day singing at Crane Hill, next Sunday.

Wallace Deemer, of Logan, is now clerking at Gibsons.

Mrs. Walter Harper and little daughter are visiting relatives, in Georgia.

J.H. Livingston is now behind the counters at Mackentepes.

A lot of road work is being done throughout the county.

The Great Wallace Show is booked for Cullman, September 29th and is well worth taking the day off to see.

Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Miles and family, of Glen Ellyn, Illinois are guests of relatives.

Friends and relatives of the Sinyard family enjoyed a real “get-together,” on Saturday, August 28th, at Prospect Church of Christ, near Guthery’s Cross Roads. A delicious lunch was spread at 12 o’clock. Ice cold lemonade was served all during the day.
