HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Cullman traveled to Milton Frank Stadium in Huntsville for a region matchup against Columbia Friday night and the ‘Cats had little trouble handling the Eagles. The Bearcats went into the locker room leading 30-0 at halftime and were able to preserve the shutout in the second half and leave with a 39-0 win.

The Bearcats got off to a fast start when quarterback Colt Colvard hit Brooks Loftin down the sideline and he took it 62 yards to the house to put Cullman on top 7-0 early in the first quarter. A very short Columbia punt gave the ball to Cullman inside the 10-yard line late in the first quarter and on the first play of the second quarter, Colvard dove into the end zone from a yard out to extend the lead to 13-0.

Columbia found itself pinned back deep inside its own territory on the ensuing possession and Kamden Dye came flying in to make a tackle in the end zone and record a safety, putting Cullman in front 15-0. On the ensuing possession, the ‘Cats added to their lead when Colvard checked one down to Jon Luke Witcher and he weaved his way through defenders for a 20-yard touchdown, making it a 22-0 game with 8:26 remaining in the first half. Cullman found the end zone one more time in the final two minutes of the second quarter when Weston Keel ran one in from 11 yards out and the Bearcats went into the locker room with a 30-0 advantage at the break.

A 1-yard touchdown run by Keel stretched the lead to 37-0 early in the third quarter and later in the fourth, another safety put the finishing touches on a 39-0 road win for Cullman.

Cullman (2-6) will be back home next week for a region game against Decatur.
