CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman County Schools and AmFirst have named Good Hope Primary School Pre-K Teacher Brittney Calvert and Cullman County Child Development Center employee Jeff Corder as their Employees of the Month, recognizing their work supporting students and fellow employees.
The school system announced the honors Sept. 24. Calvert was selected as Teacher of the Month, while Corder, who works in maintenance and custodial services at the CDC, was named Staff Member of the Month.
Calvert has taught Pre-K for several years. According to the school system, she works to meet the needs of each student while also helping other pre-K teachers across the district.
“Brittney works hard to make sure every child in her classroom feels supported, included and successful,” said CCBOE Preschool Coordinator Kristy Harris. “She is also always willing to help other Pre-K teachers across the district.”
Following a recent visit by the district’s Pre-K coach and a state coach facilitator, Calvert’s classroom is being considered as a state mentor classroom for Pre-K, according to the release. She also welcomes other teachers into her classroom to observe and learn.
The recognition comes as early childhood education opportunities expand locally. Good Hope Primary is among six Cullman County schools listed by the state as receiving newly funded First Class Pre-K classrooms for the 2026-27 school year.
At the Child Development Center, Corder was recognized for his work ethic and willingness to address needs beyond his regular responsibilities.
“Jeff goes above and beyond every day, and his work ethic is truly unmatched,” said CDC Principal Josh Davis. “He cares about our school family and is always willing to lend a helping hand.”
Davis said Corder considers his work at the CDC his mission field and expresses his faith through his service and care for others.
AmFirst sponsors the school system’s Employee of the Month program and provides each recipient with a $100 gift card.
