BREMEN, Ala. – Cold Springs swept the Class 1A-2A team championships at the Kudzu Hills Invitational Saturday, Sept. 26, with Reese Swidecki leading a perfect-score performance by the Lady Eagles and Logan Perdue winning the boys’ individual title in the division.
The host Lady Eagles claimed the first five places in the 1A-2A standings to finish with 15 points, well ahead of runner-up West End’s 72. Cold Springs’ boys scored 63 points to finish ahead of J.B. Pennington with 83 and Ohatchee with 84.
Fairview, Hanceville, Holly Pond, St. Bernard and West Point also competed. Fairview’s girls placed sixth in the 3A-4A standings, while West Point’s boys finished eighth.
Cold Springs
Reese Swidecki paced the Lady Eagles over the 5K course in 18:52.83. Gemma Swidecki followed in second at 19:16.59, with Kynzlie Myrex third in 19:41.51, Claire Hancock fourth in 21:32.64 and Ally Mavers fifth in 21:50.28.
Allison Rice added a seventh-place finish in 22:37.65. Leslie Jones placed 16th in 24:22.62 and Lila Cates finished 18th in 24:40.29.
Perdue won the boys’ 1A-2A individual title in 17:26.99, finishing 9.61 seconds ahead of J.B. Pennington’s Gavin Watts. Carson Rice placed third in 17:44.54, and Caleb Dill gave the Eagles another top-10 finisher, taking ninth in 18:27.63.
James Baggett finished 13th in 19:15.06, followed by Lucas Freeman in 38th at 21:39.82, Easton Freeman in 41st at 21:47.51 and Jacob Winfrey in 57th at 23:11.55.
West Point
Lincoln Parker led West Point’s boys with a 13th-place finish in the 3A-4A division, completing the course in 18:01.95. Griffin Jones placed 22nd in 18:59.21, and Collin Clark finished 29th in 19:15.16.
Ayden McGhee ran 21:01.40 for 80th, while Carson Duke finished 116th in 23:09.80 to round out the Warriors’ first five finishers. West Point totaled 203 points for eighth place among 17 scoring teams.
Jake Terkildsen placed 125th in 23:31.48, Brandon Salter was 126th in 23:33.75, John Lombardi finished 197th in 37:03.49 and James Lombardi was 199th in 43:10.95.
Raelynn Lindley led West Point’s girls with a 12th-place finish in 22:42.46. Judy Salter placed 16th in 23:26.05, and Raelynn Mergen finished 29th in 24:20.37.
Fairview
Fairview’s girls scored 162 points to finish sixth among 11 scoring teams in the 3A-4A division. Elliana Hunt led the Lady Aggies in 20th place at 23:43.04.
Nicole Herrera finished 32nd in 24:44.21, and Kayla Santos placed 34th in 24:50.91. Joselin Parra took 53rd in 26:47.73, while Alianna Wunderlich completed Fairview’s first five in 63rd at 28:15.16.
Ella Carter finished 65th in 28:23.32, AnnaBelle Smith was 68th in 28:28.63 and Jazmin Mateo placed 70th in 29:03.95.
The Lady Aggies also received finishes from Paisley Hopper, 90th in 31:59.07; Catallaya Benns, 100th in 34:19.27; Emilia Aleman, 112th in 38:56.09; Emma Buckelew, 116th in 41:39.73; Luna Castaneda, 118th in 43:17.88; and Jasmine Walker, 119th in 46:11.97.
Crockett Dunn paced Fairview’s boys in 58th place at 20:20.58, followed by Danny Martin in 68th at 20:40.97. Contreras Santiago finished 115th in 23:08.16, Iker Gallardo placed 127th in 23:40.50, David Payes was 136th in 23:59.69 and Omar Gomez finished 140th in 24:11.09.
The Aggies scored 367 points to finish 15th in the 3A-4A team standings.
Holly Pond
Khison Alldredge led Holly Pond’s boys with a 21st-place finish in the 3A-4A division, running 18:58.21. Levi Redd finished 104th in 22:27.10, and Xander Lambert placed 167th in 26:07.63.
Kynleigh Wood paced the Lady Broncos in 39th place at 25:19.33. Kyleigh Floyd finished 54th in 26:56.06.
Hanceville
Ely Stinson led Hanceville’s boys in 107th place at 22:35.47. Camdin Ballenger finished 120th in 23:21.80, Elijah Minor was 133rd in 23:55.17 and Lincoln Jones placed 143rd in 24:20.32.
Cash Cone finished 191st in 32:40.96, and Bear Armstrong placed 192nd in 32:55.56. The Bulldogs totaled 467 points to finish 17th in the 3A-4A team standings.
Ameya Harper represented Hanceville in the girls’ results, finishing 50th in 26:19.33.
St. Bernard
Jesus Sanchez led St. Bernard’s boys with a time of 20:50.79, while Kieran Gargan finished in 23:27.36.
Anamari Alonzo paced the Lady Saints in 29:31.50. Lily Kerber followed in 29:56.38, and Yulissa Wang completed the course in 37:35.61.
