CULLMAN, Ala. – For over 10 years, Coffee with a Cop has been bringing the community closer to local law enforcement. The latest event, hosted Wednesday, Jan. 29, at Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene continued this tradition by giving residents a chance to get to know local officers in a comfortable setting.
Pastor Joe McNulty, who also serves as a volunteer chaplain for both the Cullman Police Department and the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, said it’s important to have and nurture relationships between law enforcement and the community.
“What I hope that they’ll take away is that these are great people — worthy to be respected and honored,” he said. “But I also hope they see that both law enforcement and the church are important parts of the community. We can partner together to make our community a better place to live, and that’s the whole intent of this event.”
McNulty said he was honored to be able to be a part of law enforcement’s mission and serve his church.
“For me personally, it’s an honor to be a volunteer chaplain with the sheriff’s office and the police department,” he explained. “I love our community, and I love giving back. That’s what my church loves to do, too — this is a loving church.”
