CULLMAN, Ala. – Memorial Day weekend was mostly tame, according to both Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry and Cullman Police Chief David Nassetta.

According to Nassetta, the police had a mostly quiet weekend, with the exception of the ATM theft at the Merchants Bank main branch. (www.cullmantribune.com/2023/05/29/atm-theft-causes-damage-thieves-leave-empty-handed)

“We had a little bit of a boating accident on Lake George; it wasn’t anything major,” Nassetta stated. He said a gentleman fell out of a boat but was not badly injured.

“Overall, it was a good weekend,” Gentry said. “There were a couple of minor boating issues on the lake that we assisted the ALEA Marine Patrol with. Our main objective was to maintain a strong presence out on the lake and in the community and around the parks and the roads leading to and from the parks, which we did. We had a very strong presence out in the community.”
