CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman Electric Cooperative is set to host its annual Touch a Truck event on Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Cullman County Fairgrounds. This free event offers a unique opportunity for community members of all ages to explore a variety of vehicles up close.

Attendees can expect an interactive experience with vehicles from the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, City of Cullman police and fire departments, Cullman EMS and numerous volunteer fire departments. The event will also showcase bucket trucks, tractor trailers, a helicopter, farm tractors, buses and heavy construction equipment provided by local businesses.

Cullman EC Vice President of Member Engagement and Communications, Brian Lacy, emphasized the interactive nature of the event, saying, “Touch a Truck is meant to be a hands-on event. The doors will be open on these vehicles, and guests are encouraged to get inside and check them out. Representatives from all of the emergency agencies or businesses will be there to talk about the vehicles and show people around.”

For those looking for a quieter experience, a sensory-friendly hour will be available from 9-10 a.m., during which the event will operate without flashing lights and loud noises to accommodate guests who prefer a more subdued environment.

In addition to the vehicle exploration, the event will feature local food trucks and vendors, providing a variety of refreshments for purchase. For further details on the vehicles and activities planned for this year’s Touch a Truck, follow Cullman EC on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
