Cullman Shooting Team competes at State AIM Shotgun Tournament

MATHEWS, Ala. — Members of the Cullman Shooting team participated in the State AIM shotgun tournament on May 30th and 31st in Mathews, Alabama at Dixie Trap and Skeet Club. Each shooter participated in all three events, which consisted of 100 rounds of handicap, 100 rounds of doubles and 200 rounds of singles. There were several winners in the events. 

Cole Herfurth (Cullman High School) wound up winning the state championship in the Junior AIM handicap round after posting a score of 98/100. Griffin Barksdale (Cullman High School) took home third place in the Junior AIM handicap round, posting a score of 94/100. Barksdale won second place in the Junior AIM singles round with a score of 193/200 and he also took home second place in the Junior AIM doubles round with a score of 91/100. Gage Howard (Cullman Middle School) won the state championship in the Pre-Sub AIM doubles round with a score of 79/100 and took second place in the Pre-Sub AIM singles round after scoring 185/200.

The team of Barksdale, Herfruth, Jackson Lowery, Aaron Coffey and Kenan Pierce won the state tournament in the team AIM singles tournament’s junior division after posting a combined score of 897. Cole Burnham, Howard, Zac Edwards, Jackson Metrock, and Evan Dockery took home third place in the Sub-Junior AIM singles division with a combined score of 776. 

Jackson Lowery also competed in the open ATA events and wound up winning several awards including Doubles Class D champion, ATA overall singles champion runner-up, ATA junior doubles champion, ATA handicap championship overall fourth place, ATA high all-around resident Class D champion and he earned a 50-straight patch.
