HOLLY POND, Ala. – The Holly Pond Town Council on Monday evening said an official farewell to long-time Town Clerk Linda Pope, who has retired after serving the east Cullman County municipality for over four decades. In announcing the vacating of the position, Mayor Carla Hart said, “She has served the town as a clerk for 41 years and will be missed.”

The council approved her resignation and discussed plans to seek a new clerk to fill her post.

Something extra for employees

The council voted to give all town employees, full and part-time, a one-time pay adjustment of $150 ahead of the Christmas holiday. At the recommendation of Councilman Charles Holcomb and with unanimous approval, the council made a goodwill gesture of adding Pope to the list of beneficiaries, despite her having already retired.

In other business, the council approved:

  • Renewal of the town’s membership in Air Med’s air evacuation service at a cost of $3998. Residents may sign up for additional coverage outside of Cullman County for an additional $45, $35 for seniors. The council expressed hopes of having representatives of the company come for an additional coverage signup event in Holly Pond.
  • A $400 donation to Good Samaritan Health Clinic, in addition to a $1,000 donation made in June.

The Holly Pond Town Council meets at 6:00 p.m. on the first Monday of each month at the Guy Hunt Library. The public is invited to attend.
