Funeral services for Larry Coleman Creel, 77, of Hanceville will be 11 a.m. Saturday October 3rd at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Welti, Alabama. Burial will follow the service at Welti Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday October 2nd from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Hanceville Funeral Home.
Mr. Creel was born April 24, 1949, in Empire, Alabama to the late Elzie Creel & Lizzie Hutchens. He passed away September 27, 2026, in Hanceville, Alabama.
Larry Creel was a proud veteran who honorably served his country in both the United States Navy and the National Guard. His dedication to serving others continued throughout his life, including through his many years as a school teacher at Hanceville High School, where he had the opportunity to influence and encourage countless students.
Larry was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where his faith and church family were an important part of his life.
Larry had a deep love for animals of all kinds—anything with fur or without it could capture his attention and affection. He enjoyed many hobbies and interests, including collecting and admiring knives and guns, as well as riding and enjoying motorcycles. He had a unique personality and was known for his dry sense of humor.
Mr. Creel is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Creel; children, Elijah Creel, and Jacob Creel (Kasey); and his grandchildren, Collin Creel, Lizzie Creel, Zeb Watson, Zac Watson, Zoe Watson, Jude Creel, Lucy Creel, and Max Creel.
Mr. Creel was preceded in death by his parents, Elzie Creel & Lizzie Hutchens.
