Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are forecast this afternoon and evening for both the western and southern halves of the state. A couple of storms could produce wind gusts from 40-60 mph. A frontal system will begin to move into the state overnight, with scattered showers and thunderstorms developing across the northern half of Alabama tonight into Saturday morning. No severe weather is expected.
More widespread precipitation will occur Saturday afternoon and evening. Very heavy rainfall will accompany the strongest storms, and brief flooding is possible, especially east of I-65. In addition, a few damaging wind gusts are also possible across the northern half of the state.
On Sunday, scattered to numerous showers and storms are expected across the southern half of Alabama mainly during the afternoon and evening, and a couple of storms could produce wind gusts from 40-60 mph. From Monday through at least Wednesday, the typical summertime scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms are expected each day.
