GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. – Holly Pond hit the road for a region game at Brindlee Mountain Friday night and the Lions had their hands full with the Broncos in town. Holly Pond jumped out to a 47-6 lead in the first half and with the clock running in the second half, cruised to a 60-12 win over Brindlee Mountain.

Miguel Garcia put the Broncos on top 7-0 early by returning the game’s opening kick 82 yards for a touchdown. An 80-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Boston Gibbs to Garcia extended the lead to 14-0 and Gibbs ran one into the end zone from 6 yards out on the next possession to make it 20-0.

Gibbs ran in a 37-yard touchdown to make it 33-6 early in the second quarter and Jonathan Hamby sprinted into the end zone for a 20-yard touchdown to stretch the lead to 40-6. Gibbs returned a Brindlee Mountain punt 72 yards for another touchdown just before halftime to gave Holly Pond a commanding, 47-6 advantage at the break.

A 22-yard touchdown pass from Gibbs to Asher Thrift made it a 53-6 game early in the third quarter, but the Lions scored on their next possession to trim the lead to 53-12. The final score of the night came later in the third quarter when Kort Freeman broke free for 57 yards and a touchdown, wrapping up a dominant, 60-12 win for the Broncos.
