HANCEVILLE, Ala. – ZincFast is preparing an expansion of its Hanceville galvanizing operation following approval of a tax abatement by the Hanceville City Council.
The council approved the abatement Sept. 10. Details including the company’s planned capital investment, value of the abatement and projected employment were not provided during the public portion of the meeting reviewed by The Tribune.
Separate employment materials from ZincFast provide additional evidence of the project.
The company is currently seeking a maintenance technician for its Hanceville facility and describes the position as joining the operation during what it calls a significant plant expansion.
The job description says the employee will have responsibilities associated with expansion projects, including coordinating with contractors and vendors. The position also involves maintenance of cranes, hoists, furnaces, boilers, electrical equipment and other industrial systems.
The full-time position is advertised at $25-$30 an hour.
ZincFast operates at 301 Industrial Blvd. in Hanceville and is part of Birmingham Fastener.
Birmingham Fastener announced ZincFast in July 2025 as a new company focused on hot-dip galvanizing, a process that applies a protective zinc coating to fabricated steel.
The Hanceville operation handles products ranging from smaller fasteners to larger steel structures.
ZincFast’s expansion comes at a property that is also subject to an environmental cleanup plan overseen by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.
ADEM records show LaBella Associates submitted a voluntary cleanup plan on behalf of ZincFast for the Industrial Boulevard property after soil and groundwater sampling was conducted at the site.
ADEM determined the draft cleanup plan was technically adequate and said remedial work and institutional and engineering controls would be required at the property.
The available ADEM record does not establish that the environmental work was caused by ZincFast’s operations, nor does it establish that the cleanup and the newly disclosed plant expansion are connected.
ZincFast began operating in Hanceville in 2025, adding a specialized galvanizing operation to Birmingham Fastener’s longstanding presence in the city.
Birmingham Fastener has operated a major distribution facility in Hanceville since 1995.
The company has not yet publicly detailed the size of ZincFast’s expansion, additional building square footage, equipment investment, construction schedule or number of jobs expected to be created.
