BREMEN, Ala. – The Cold Springs Eagles were back home to host Curry Friday night and they improved to 2-0 on the year with a comfortable win over the Yellow Jackets. The Eagles led 20-7 at halftime and cruised through the second half on their way to a 44-7 win over Curry.

Ayden Black connected with Ethan Day through the air for an early touchdown and a 6-0 Cold Springs lead in the first quarter. Black’s second touchdown pass to Day made it a 14-0 game and Day’s fast start continued on the defensive side of the ball when he intercepted a Curry pass and returned it for another touchdown, giving the Eagles a 20-0 lead with four minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Curry was able to find the end zone with just under five minutes to play in the first half to cut the lead to 20-7 at the break. Cason Alexander punched one into the end zone midway through the third quarter to keep Cold Springs ahead 28-7 and Cooper Johnson followed with a touchdown of his own to stretch the lead to 36-7 later in the third.

Black’s third and final touchdown pass of the night came early in the fourth quarter when he hit Eli Voce in the end zone to put the finishing touches on a 44-7 win for the Eagles.

Cold Springs (2-0) will try to stay in the win column when it travels to Susan Moore for a region game next week.
