CULLMAN, Ala. – A Cullman woman recently released a children’s book titled “Finlee and Her Purple Glasses.”

Taylor Johnson is a Cullman native who wears many hats as an active and passionate member of the community.

Johnson said she feels she is an artist at heart and has been a writer since childhood.

“I try and bring creativity and imagination to every story I tell,” she said. “Though I juggle numerous roles, my  favorite title is ‘mom.’ I find endless inspiration in my two children, Oliver Ray and River Grace, whose adventures and curiosity fuel my storytelling.”

When Johnson isn’t writing or creating art, she’s deeply involved in community projects, pouring her heart into making her hometown a vibrant place to live.

“‘Finlee and Her Purple Glasses’ is a heartfelt tale inspired by my son Oliver’s preschool friendship, celebrating confidence, friendship and the joy of seeing the world clearly,” she explained. “My passion for storytelling and love for my children shine through every page. I try to make my stories cherished treasures for young readers and their families.”

Johnson said she has always wanted to publish a book, and working alongside Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library through her role as resource development & outreach manager for the United Way of Cullman County really pushed her to chase her dream.

“’Finlee and Her Purple Glasses’ is not the first children’s book I have written,” she said. “I have actually written four. This was the first one that I finally decided to chase my dream with and give a chance with some faith and prayers. Growing up, I had glasses and the lowest self-esteem. One day my little boy came home from school talking nonstop about a little girl in his class, Finlee, who had gotten new purple glasses. He was so amazed by them. This inspired me to help babies with self-esteem and embracing their differences.”

Follow Johnson at Facebook/Taylor Blake Johnson to learn more. She will be on WAFF 48  News’ “Tennessee Valley Living” at the end of this month to talk about the book with Finlee herself.
