Vinemont R. 1, June 19—The wife of Jim Barnett died Sunday morning at 4 o’clock. The death of Mrs. Barnett caused sadness to the hearts of the family and the community. Mrs. Barnett is survived by her husband and eleven children, six daughters and five sons. Her body was laid to rest in Ebenezer cemetery Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. L.T. Absher and little baby, Maxine, left Thursday afternoon for California.
Mrs. Bob Morris is spending a few days in Scottsboro with Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Morrow.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Dukes spent the night with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Monroe Dukes, Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Buckelew spent night with Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Hardin.
George McEwen and mother visited Mr. and Mrs. Robert McEwen near Thirteen Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bland visited the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Morris, Sunday.
King Chandler visited Monroe Dukes Monday.

Mrs. Carl Hughes, of San Antonio, Texas, and her little daughter, Virginia are visiting her sister, Mrs. Edwood Jones, this week.
Miss Nora Kelley of Milwaukee, Wis. is expected to be home next Tuesday after a week’s visit with Mrs. Louis Graf and Miss Magill.
Mrs. Houston Loveless and son of Verbena are spending several weeks in Cullman as the guests of her parent, Judge and Mrs. P. H. Thrasher, Jr.
Mrs. D. T. Thompson and Miss Marcelle Thompson and Miss Marilou Johnson are leaving for a trip to the Century of Progress at Chicago.
William Allison who is employed in the office of Dr. C. S. Parker is in Birmingham this week attending the State Optical convention at the Tutwiler.
Judge Homer P. Mitchell and C. W. Legge attended the Republican state convention in Birmingham Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
Percy Lowery underwent an operation for appendicitis at the Cullman Hospital on Saturday night and is thought to be making a nice recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Crow and children enjoyed a pleasant trip to Athens on Labor Day and visited Grant’s park on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Grant.
Mrs. Margaret Thompson underwent an appendicitis operation at the Cullman Hospital Tuesday night and is making a splendid recovery.
Mrs. Carl Hays of San Antonio and daughter, Peggy Sue are spending this week with her parents, Judge and Mrs. Carl T. Wilder, Mrs. Graham mother.
H. Graf has gone to Orange Beach, Fla. where they will spend a few days at the cottage of Mr. Graf on Orange Beach where they will spend a few days.
Dr. Phillip Hartung has returned home from Evansville, Ind. and St. Louis, Mo., attending the Kiwanis convention. While away he visited Medical College, Washington University, Century of Progress exposition in Chicago.
Mrs. John Wamp, of Hartsell, returned Tuesday from Birmingham. While away, she attended the meeting of the Woman’s Missionary Society. Mr. T. H. Benton, who passed away on July 27th, Mr. and Mrs. Benton were planning to leave Sunday at 2:30. Mrs. Guthner’s many friends in Cullman were sorry to learn of her death in this city. It is very sad news.

Master Arnold Evers underwent an appendicitis operation at the Baptist hospital Wednesday morning.
Rev. W. C. Reeves, pastor of the First Methodist church, and Theodore Swann, underwent an operation to be carried to his home Thursday.
Miss Mary Magg and baby James Magg of Hartselle, are spending a few days in Cullman visiting with burns caused by their home burning in Hartselle Tuesday.
Mrs. Elbert Duke underwent an operation for appendicitis Thursday at the hospital she is the daughter of Mrs. Z. L. Newman underwent an appendicitis operation last Friday and is recovering nicely.
Miss Margaret Thompson underwent an appendicitis operation last Monday night and is making a nice recovery.
Miss Thelma Kinney underwent an appendicitis operation last Monday evening at the Baptist hospital. It is reported that he is making nice recovery.
