VINEMONT, Ala. — Vinemont’s Reagan Robinson will be a senior this upcoming school year and in this interview, she talked about how much God has changed her life and she shared some of her Bible verses.

“It’s the foundation that I try to live my life by. God has changed my life in many ways. Before I came to know Him, there were times I felt lost and bothered by things I couldn’t control in my life. When I opened my heart and listened to what God was trying to say, I really started to understand who He is, how He loved me and was there for me. I can always find a sense of peace when I go to Him in prayer. When I truly came to know Him, I really began to see my worth,” Robinson said. “My favorite Bible verses are Isaiah 60:22: ‘When the time is right, I, the Lord, will make it happen’, Philippians 4:13: ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’, and Proverbs 3:5: ‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding’. All three of these verses are deeply meaningful and powerful, and they carry its own weight of encouragement, hope, and trust.”

Reagan wants to help people of all ages get closer to God, and she wants to be a role model for a lot of kids, whether it’s on the court or off of it.

“As a Christian, that’s my responsibility: to lead not only younger children, but those my own age,” Robinson said. “Every day, I find a way to be a role model in someone’s life, whether it’s when I’m on the court playing, or I’m living my everyday life off the court. All my life, I have always heard the coaches and parents say, ‘You never know who is watching you’. That statement has stuck with me, because through life, little kids always look up to you without you realizing how much of an impact you have on their life.”

When Reagan’s mom went through a tough time a few years ago, she thought she wasn’t going to make it long, but thanks to God, she survived, and her story helped Reagan out in a big way.

“When my oldest brother was three months ago, my mom was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma and was told she only had three-to-six months to live. She has now been in remission for 18 years now. Her story shows me how God works, even through the toughest of times.

Spreading the Word of God isn’t just about speaking it; it’s about showing His love through action and that inspires me to have Him first in everything I do,” she said. “My role models are my grandmother, my aunt, and my mom. They all have made a huge impact on my life. My grandmother has always shown me how to live my life without regrets. She has shown me how strong of a woman she is by never losing her faith during the darkest times,” Reagan said. “My aunt has always gone above and beyond to treat me like her own kids. I can always turn to her when things get hard. My mother is my biggest supporter. Everything I do, I always try to show her how much I take after her and care for her. She has been there for me throughout my whole life, even through the toughest moments of my life and has never not shown up or gave up on me. All of them are my favorite people, and I don’t know what I would do without them.”

She gave some advice to those people that want a relationship with God but might be new to that experience. She dealt with a family tragedy back in 2022 and she talked about that experience.

“I would say that if you feel that you can’t have a conversation with your friend, God is always listening, so you can always turn to Him. I would also suggest that if you have a friend that you know is involved in a church, I advise to reach out, and never be afraid to ask questions. Never be afraid to take the next step and have a relationship with God,” she said. “My grandfather passed away in 2022. Two days before his passing, he got baptized, and I truly believe that was the way he would find peace and comfort.”

Reagan talked about some of the things she has learned during her journey so far, and she goes through some Godly rituals with her teammates before games and at school as well.

“Be true to myself, keep my faith strong, and give all my glory to God,” she said. “My team always says the Lord’s prayer before playing each game. I find that when I start to feel stressed or overwhelmed, I stop, take a deep breath, and say a little prayer. I strongly believe in that.”
