Funeral services for Marlin Ray Hawkins, 86, of Vinemont will be 12 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. The graveside service with military honors will follow at Dorsey Creek Cemetery in Bremen. Bro. Justin Smith will be officiating services. The family will welcome friends for visitation on Thursday at Hanceville Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Mr. Hawkins was born on July 10, 1938, to the late Ralph and Maude Sanders-Hawkins in Arkadelphia, Alabama. He died at Folsom Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center on June 1, 2025. Marlin honorably served his country as a Private First Class in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963. Stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, he distinguished himself as a rifle sharpshooter, a role he carried out with pride and precision. His military service was a source of deep honor and remained an important part of his life. He will be remembered not only for his service to his country but also for his steadfast character, generous spirit, and warm heart.
Survivors include his brother, Charles Hawkins; sister, Gail Gorham; nieces and nephews, Stacey (Justin) Smith, Carol (Bruce) Harris, Paul Hawkins, Susan (Brad) Casey, David (Brandy) Gorham and Mandy (Tim) Waddell; a host of great nieces and nephews; special friend, Lee Wolf; sisters-in-law, Charlene Hawkins and Jayne Hawkins.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hawkins was preceded in death by his son & daughter-in-law, Harvey (Kim) Hawkins; and nephews, Craig Gorham and Gary Hawkins; brothers, Joe Hawkins and Allen Hawkins; brother-in-law, John Gorham; and sister-in-law, Linda Hawkins.
