CULLMAN, Ala. – It was recently announced that Executive Director of First Source for Women Catherine Bethell has resigned after seven years of service.

The President of the Board Julia Rushing spoke about the admirable service Catherine provided, saying, “Catherine has actually been involved with First Source for Women since its conception. She was a part of the original team of ladies from Sacred Heart Church that had the idea to create a pregnancy center and they got it stood up through Heartbeat International.”

After having moved away from Cullman for a time for her career, Catherine returned to Cullman after retirement and was given the Executive Director position.

Rushing continued, “The Board really felt like she was the right person to take that job. Then she served as Executive Director for seven years. She just really did so much for First Source for Women. Not a lot of people outside of Sacred Heart Church knew about our ministry, and so she just did such a phenomenal job reaching out across the community and building relationships. She has really made it a place that has ecumenical support because we’re a Christian ministry, not just a Catholic ministry, and she took that very seriously.”

Bethell went to churches all over Cullman County to speak on the goals of First Source for Women. Rushing said Bethell created relationships with the mayors of Cullman and Hanceville, the Chamber of Commerce and Wallace State Community College. “A lot of our success, we can attribute to her. We are so grateful for her service,” Rushing finished.

The ministry is currently searching for someone who can fill the executive director position, which is crucial to the ministry’s success. This new hire will be responsible for overseeing both center operations and community outreach. The Executive Director position is also responsible for the implementation of goals, objectives, policies and plans developed and established by the Board of Directors.

First Source for Women is a pro-life, Christian organization. To be considered for the position, applicants must have a solid Christian faith and be passionately pro-life.
