CULLMAN, Ala. – Since the Cullman County Animal Shelter has love to spare right now, Donna Ruttkay shares a bonus Cullman Tribune Pet of the Week:

Butter Biscuit is a 1-year-old terrier mix. He’s a lively, but not hyper, medium-energy pet who’s great on his leash and developing his respect for personal space. He’s athletic, enjoys activity and is willing to learn new skills.

Butter Biscuit has the makings of a good companion, therapy or hiking dog.

Butter Biscuit’s adoption fee is $100 which includes DHLPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccines, rabies vaccine, wormer, general exam at the vet, neutering, microchip, free 30-day health insurance policy issued by 24PetWatch (with valid email only) and a free bag of food from Cullman Pet Depot (you must pay sales tax).

Animal shelter staff and volunteers work with their dogs to make sure they are accustomed to being around people, walking on a leash and practicing good behavior. Several of the shelter’s canine friends have even been “hired” to work as therapy and special needs service dogs.

Please consider adopting, to give a rescued pet a chance at a happy and healthy life.

Contact the Cullman County Animal Shelter at 256-734-5448 or cullmancountyanimalshelter@gmail.com. Visit the shelter at 935 Convent Road NE.

It’s springtime, and . . .

Ruttkay reports that, with spring coming on fast, more dogs are out and about “looking for love.” The number of strays seems to increase around this time, and so does the population of the shelter. Watch out for your pets at home, and if your furry friend has gone missing, contact the shelter with a description to see if your pet might be there.

Because of the increased number of animals at the shelter these days, there should be a furry friend for everyone, so now is a great time to go and find your new companion!
