CULLMAN, Ala. – Local artists Ben South and Seth Miller recently collaborated to create a piece of art in hopes of raising money to support community projects in Colony. In a time when the world is divided, the painting’s message is of harmony as we enter the holiday season. South and Miller hope the artwork can be used in creative ways to raise money.

South came up with the concept and reached out to Miller, who was able to create an image that captured South’s message. Soon, South hopes the art can be sold as a Christmas ornament through the North Alabama Agriplex.

South said ideally, any money raised from the project would be used in Colony for community enhancements such as a set of gardens that would connect the library and town hall and would help create a central area that the community could enjoy.

The painting features two young children of different races and the innocence and pureness that exist in them, something that the world really needs right now, according to South. The painting also represents the progress that comes from loving and supporting our neighbors and lending a helping hand when needs are present.

The details on when and where to purchase an ornament are still being worked out.

The Tribune was present when Miller presented the painting to South, who was blown away, saying, “I just love this!”

Both artists signed the “Holiday Harmony” painting Thursday afternoon and look forward to sharing it with the community.
