COLONY, Ala. – The Town of Colony on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020 at noon will host a COVID-19 community awareness training event at the Colony Educational Complex, 151 Byars Road. Training will be led by Debra Love, an environmental chemist and former director of the Southern Research Institute Industrial Hygiene Laboratory, who currently serves as president of Birmingham-based E3 Solutions.

Love told The Tribune that training will include awareness of the nature of COVID-19, common sources of infection, correct uses of different types of masks, choosing the best sanitizers, effective cleaning techniques and other tips to protect individuals and families.

Love, who talks with the Alabama Department of Public Health on a weekly basis about developments in hot spots around the state, pointed out the importance of getting up-to-date information on the disease scientists are still working to understand.

Said Love, “It changes so much; we’re constantly learning more. I’m learning something every day.”

The event will include one hour of training plus time for questions and answers. Reservations are not required, but face coverings and social distancing will be. Participants will receive free disinfectants.
