Vinemont Town Council approves yearly budgets, bids to move forward with town hall expansion

VINEMONT, Ala. – The Vinemont Town Council approved its proposed budgets for the 2026-2027 fiscal year and moved forward with several projects during its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday, Sept. 1.

The council adopted five resolutions concerning the town’s upcoming fiscal year budgets. These included Resolution No. 2026-09-01 for the General Fund and Municipal Park Fund; Resolution No. 2026-09-02 for the Capital Improvement Fund; Resolution No. 2026-09-03 for the 4, 5 and 7 Cent Fund; Resolution No. 2026-09-04 for the Rebuild Alabama Fund; and Resolution No. 2026-09-05 for the Henry Roe Wood Park Fund.

Council members also adopted Resolution No. 2026-09-06, providing a 2% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) schedule increase for the 2026-2027 fiscal year, and Resolution No. 2026-09-07, providing a one-time pay supplement for full-time employees.

Several bids related to work at Vinemont Town Hall were also approved. The bids covered HVAC work, labor-only roofing, sheetrock installation, painting, brick installation, flooring for the new addition, gas piping for the new HVAC system, a storefront door, gutter installation, insulation installation and concrete finishing.

The work comes as the town continues its previously approved expansion of town hall, which will provide additional office space and a larger council meeting room.

The Council also approved $24,000 for Safe-T-Shelters to paint the interior of the town’s storm shelter and $12,155 for Southeast Concrete Solutions to complete flooring work at the sports complex.

Two additions to the town’s senior citizen programming were approved. Beginning in January, an additional Senior Citizens Day for games and crafts will be held on the first Monday of each month. Senior citizen fitness activities will also be offered every Thursday.

The Council additionally approved moving its October and November work sessions and council meetings to the third Tuesday of each respective month.

Several upcoming community events and meetings were announced:

  • A community meeting regarding annexation will be held Thursday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. at the Vinemont Community Center
  • Senior Citizens Day will be held Monday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Vinemont Community Center
  • A special-called meeting will be held Monday, Sept. 21, at 5:30 p.m. at Vinemont Town Hall

The next regular meeting of the Vinemont Town Council will be Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Vinemont Town Hall. The work session will begin at 5:30 p.m., with the regular meeting to follow at 6.
