Update: Coroner identifies victim at U.S. 278 at Kugler Bridge

CULLMAN, Ala. – Multiple agencies responded to a fatality at U.S. Highway 278 West at the Kugler Bridge at Vest Creek Sunday afternoon. Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick identified the victim as Ricardo Saucedo, 28, of Jacksonville, Florida.

Crews from Logan, Bethsadia and West Point worked to recover Saucedo from the ground under the bridge.

According to Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry, “We don’t know how he got down there. It’s early in the investigation.”

Maurice Reynolds from Logan Fire Rescue said the body is being sent for autopsy. Kilpatrick confirmed that Saucedo’s body has been sent to Huntsville for the autopsy.

The time of the incident has not been confirmed, but authorities were called shortly before 2 p.m.

Responders from Cullman EMS and the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office were also on the scene.

The roadway was closed for some time as the recovery effort took place.
