CULLMAN – Local charity Karma in Cullman, an organization that provides food and other necessities to people in need, and whose social media presence serves as a clearinghouse for its members to help and encourage each other, is getting ready for the upcoming Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.  Individuals and families in need, whether they are associated with Karma or not, will have the opportunity in November to enjoy a community Thanksgiving meal, and to sign up for assistance at Christmastime.

Christmas assistance signups

  • Nov. 9, 2018 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at DEEZ Vapes, 1418 Fourth St. SW (U.S. Highway 278) in Cullman
  • Nov. 17, 2018 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Comfort Suites, 2048 St. Joseph Dr NW at Alabama Highway 157 in Cullman

Thanksgiving dinner and final Christmas assistance signup

  • Nov. 21, 2018 from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Cullman Housing Authority Community Center, 1545 Vine Circle SW in Cullman

Karma Founder and Director Rachel Bryant told The Tribune, “Our Community Thanksgiving Dinner has moved from the Goldridge Community Center to the Cullman Housing Authority Community Center in hopes of making it easier for people to get to. It will be held the day before Thanksgiving. We are hosting a dressing cook-off as a way to help provide food to serve, so if you think you make the best dressing be sure to enter. We are also looking for area businesses who might be interested in helping sponsor the dinner.

“The Karma Christmas Assistance Program is a way to try and remove some of the stress and worry from mom and dad this Christmas season.  We know it will not solve all their problems, but if it can lift some of the burdens so they can enjoy Christmas with their families then that is what we want to do.

“We will also have opportunities for people to adopt children to shop for this Christmas season if they are interested, but more importantly, if any area businesses are interested in hosting toy drives, please contact us.”
