BERLIN – The victim in Sunday night's fatal traffic collision at U.S. Highway 278 East and County Road 747 has been identified. Donnie Ray Hardiman, 65, of Arley was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. Sunday and involved three vehicles. Hardiman was driving a 2004 Mercury Monterey minivan and allegedly failed to stop for a red light. Kilpatrick says Hardiman was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Hardiman struck a 1990 Ford Mustang driven by Timothy Crawford, 26, of Holly Pond. A 2014 Chevrolet Sonic was involved after the initial collision.

The Berlin Volunteer Fire Department, Cullman EMS, Cullman County Sheriff's Office deputies and troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) all assisted at the scene, with ALEA taking the lead in the investigation.

The extent of the injuries to others involved in the collision is unknown at this time.

ALEA continues to investigate.
