Cullman’s Don Morgan honored with BCA Distinguished Leader Award

POINT CLEAR, Ala. – The Business Council of Alabama’s board of directors at the Governmental Affairs Conference on Aug. 5 honored long-serving BCA board member and Cullman businessman Don Morgan with the BCA Distinguished Leader Award his for tireless advocacy in support of business and the BCA that was created in 1985. 

Morgan served on the BCA board of directors for 30 years and has been a staunch advocate for the business community and the BCA. “He has truly been the epitome of a distinguished leader,” said BCA Chairman Tommy Lee, president and CEO of Vulcan Inc. in Foley. 

“In recognition for your 30 years of committed service, dedication and leadership to the Business Council of Alabama and on behalf of the BCA board of directors, I would like to present Mr. Don Morgan with the Business Council of Alabama Distinguished Leader Award,” Lee said. 

Morgan served on the BCA’s board when it was established 31 years ago with the merger of Associated Industries of Alabama and the Alabama Chamber of Commerce. Prior to the BCA’s creation, Morgan served on the board of directors of Associated Industries of Alabama. He served on the BCA’s environment and energy committee and the small business committee. 

Morgan is president of Morgan Properties in Cullman. He is an U.S. Air Force veteran and has served on boards of several organizations including the Southern Region Boy Scouts of America and Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce, where he served as president from 1982-1984. Morgan is also a past chairman of the City of Cullman Industrial Development Board. 

“I have not given nearly what I have received for serving on the board,” Morgan said of the BCA. “You’ll get more than you give.”
