CULLMAN, Ala. – Northbrook Baptist Church (NBC) hosted a fun evening for families at its first-ever family movie night Friday. The church provided a free viewing of “Toy Story 4” and gave out refreshments. The event took place outside, with the movie shown on a giant inflatable screen.

NBC Children’s Ministry Pastor Erica Turner smiled, “Tonight we have our movie night; it’s the first one we’ve ever gotten to do at Northbrook and we’re really excited about it. We’re watching ‘Toy Story 4’ and we’re looking forward to being able to give the community an outlet to just spend time together during all that’s going on.”

She continued, “Thankfully this is one of those easier events to put on, but we definitely put time into figuring out what movie to show, how to get the word out and trying to figure out, with all that’s going on, what we could provide or serve people. We’re glad we’re able to give drinks and popcorn, and, like I said, just give people a chance to hang out. We just hope that families can create a good memory- with not being able to go to so many places right now with all the regulations and COVID-19, just the fact they can come here enjoy, relax and spend time together.”

The church has another fun family event planned for July.

“We have another family event coming in July,” said Turner. “We’re going to do a family ‘Amazing Race’ on a Sunday afternoon and so we’re really excited about that. We’ll get our church families to hang out and then it’ll be open to others if they want to join in. It’s kind of like a scavenger hunt.”
