Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Powell were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Taft Powell.
Mrs. Charlie Smith of Bowdon, Georgia called on Mr. and Mrs. O. W. South recently.
Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Buckelew and Karen, and Mr. and Mrs. Hoyt Buckelew and Rickey visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Bucklew, near Battle Ground last Sunday.
Revival services will begin here the second Sunday in August. The Rev. Gilbert Speake of Cullman will be the evangelist.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Panter, Mrs. Gladys Brock and T. B. Veal are spending their vacation at Red Boiling Springs, Tenn.
Eunice Buckelew is spending this week with relatives in this community.

Leon Hughes, Joppa Mail Carrier, is ill in Arab Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Walker and Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Walker are vacationing in the Smokey Mountains in N. Carolina this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Hughie Hester and Ann Carrol visited relatives in Gadsden last weekend.
The Vacation Bible School began at Ryan Baptist Church Monday P. M. The enrollment was 70.
The Revival will begin at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church the 4th Sunday in July. The pastor, Rev. Brown, will be preaching. Everyone is invited to attend all services, and on Saturday before the 4th Sunday everyone is requested to bring sling blades or mowers and help clean the Church cemetery.
John Wright of Birmingham is spending a two weeks vacation here. He is working on his new house.
Mrs. Luey McKee honored the newly weds, Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Brisco, with a shower at her home last Thursday P. M.

Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Huie visited their son, Bill Huie, and Mrs. Huie in Hartselle last Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Alton Tidwell spent Tuesday in Birmingham.
Mrs. Burt Simpson has returned from Mobile after an extended visit with her son, Hugh Simpson, Mrs. Simpson and children.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Price, Debbie and Gene and Penny Branscomb of Sheffield, motored to Birmingham Thursday afternoon. While Mr. Price attended to business, Mrs. Price and children visited the Birmingham zoo. The children were delighted with riding the miniature train and looking at the animals.
Graf Hart, tax assessor of Cullman County, visited with Post Master Willis D. Fanning Thursday afternoon.
Friends of Bob Gamble will be delighted to know that he is now at home, after a stay of several days in Cullman Hospital, following a car accident.

Cullman Children Win Jasper Show Prizes
Three Cullman children won prizes at the Jasper Pony Show last Saturday night.
With his pony, “Corvette,” Phillip Clemmons won first in the pony roadster class and his sister, Linda, with her “Peter Rabbit” won fourth. They are children of Dr. and Mrs. L. H. Clemmons.
Elizabeth Ann Roden, 7, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Roden, won second prize in the pony riding class. Her pony, 38 inches tall, is named “Minnie Pearl”.
The Clemmons children also presented an exhibition, Pony Fancy Turnout, with “Country Cousin” pulling the buggy over which fell a fancy skirt and with the driver in top hat and tails.
Mrs. Clemmons had designed and made this fancy “rig”, which she says took her two months.
New Jersey Man In Cullman Today
Arriving in Cullman today was Everett M. Keen, a New Jersey manufacturer of poultry equipment, who is planning to move his plant to Cullman, probably about Feb. 1 of next year.
The plant here would employ 100 within a year with a payroll of $12,000 to $15,000 per month.
Mr. Keen is discussing with Chamber of Commerce officials the proposed move of his plant.
