CULLMAN, Ala. – Relay For Life of Cullman County’s annual celebration is tonight, Saturday, May 30, from 6-10, in Depot Park. This is a free, rain-or-shine event.
Event Lead Emily Abney said there is a dinner at 5 p.m. that is free for survivors and one guest in the Desperation Church building across the street before the Relay Night begins.
“The best way for the community to get involved is by coming out and supporting the vendors, live band, food trucks and car show that will be there,” Abney said. “This year we will have a car show! Jesse Priest will be playing with his band, which will be great entertainment. There are bounce houses and face painting for kids, food trucks, shaved ice and lots of fun events taking place on stage. It is also free to attend.”
Abney said the organization has been holding the event in Cullman since 1994, but this is her first year as event lead.
“Our favorite moments are always our survivors’ lap, which is full of celebration,” she said. “Also the Luminaria Service where we light up bags in memory or in honor of those touched by cancer. It’s truly a can’t miss experience.”
If you’re interested in supporting Relay For Life, Abney said you can help by showing up to the event in person and sharing the group’s social media posts.
“They can donate on-site tomorrow via cash or check,” she said.
