ADDISON, Ala. – The second ranked team in 1A, the Addison Bulldogs, hosted one of their biggest rivals, the Meek Tigers, Friday night. The Bulldogs rolled the Tigers 56-6.
Before the game, Addison honored the undefeated, 14-0, 1976 1A state title team. A large number of former players, cheerleaders and coaches were present, including Head Coach and Alabama High School Hall of Famer Allen Stephenson.
Addison won the toss and chose to defer to the second half. Meek took the kickoff and facing a third-and-5 from their own 30, Addison’s Michael Lee sacked quarterback Evan McCay for a 4-yard loss, forcing the punt.
Addison’s high-powered offense took over, and after a Judah Wilkins 23-yard run put the ball down at the Tiger 11, Addison’s Zane Smith rumbled in from the 11 for the first Addison touchdown. The extra point was missed and after only two offensive plays, Addison led 6-0 with 7:21 to go in the first quarter.
Addison’s stingy defense forced another three and out and Addison took over at their own 48. After two quick Elijah Roberts completions for a first down, Smith took two carries to go 46 yards. Smith ran it in from 19 yards out for his second touchdown of the night. Judah Wilkins completed a 2-point-conversion pass to Connor Lane and Addison led 14-0 with 4:18 to go in the quarter.
Bulldog linebacker Major Snoddy recorded a sack to force another Tiger punt and the Bulldogs took over at the Tiger 38-yard line. Two plays later, Roberts found Lane for a 48-yard touchdown pass. Lane kicked the extra point and with 3:24 to go in the first quarter, Addison had taken control of this game 21-0.
With only 27 seconds left in the first quarter, Addison’s Scout Flynn forced a fumble. Linebacker Joey Wilson recovered the fumble, setting the Bulldog offense up at the Tiger 23. Two plays later, Roberts hit Addison tight end Michael Lee for a 27-yard touchdown pass. The Lane extra point was good and at the start of the second quarter, Addison led 28-0.
The Tigers were game all night, but on their next possession realized this was not going to be their night. After running three plays for -3 yards, Addison got the ball at the Tiger 17.
Addison’s Smith punched it in on the next play from 17 yards out for his third touchdown. Lane kicked the extra point and with 7:36 to go in the first half, Addison led 35-0.
On Meek’s second play of their next possession, Snoddy intercepted the Tiger pass and returned it to the Tiger 18. Three plays later, Roberts found Tanner Gaither on a pass to the corner of the end zone from 20 yards out. Lane kicked the extra point and the lead stretched to 42-0.
Addison forced another three and out, and it took only two plays to go 63 yards for the score. Roberts hit Flynn for 18 yards and then Roberts ran it in from 30 yards out for the Bulldogs’ seventh touchdown of the night. Lane kicked the extra point and Addison led 49-0. This is how the first half ended.
The second half was played with a running clock but full 12-minute quarters. Addison put the young players in, and on their first drive they went 38 yards for a touchdown. Wilson ran three times for 15 yards and freshman QB Zeke Wiggins, grandson of Addison QB legend Greg Wiggins, had two completions and finished off the drive with a 13-yard touchdown run. Lane kicked the extra point and Addison led 56-0 with eight minutes left in the third quarter.
On the ensuing Bulldog kickoff, Tiger returner Evan McCay slow played the coverage team and broke out down the Tiger sideline for a nice 92-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. The 2-point was no good and Addison led 56-6. This is how the game ended.
Addison’s first-team defense still hasn’t given up a point.
Addison moves to 5-0 (3-0 region) and will host 3A Oakman next Friday at 7 p.m. Meek drops to 2-3 (1-2 region) and will be off next week.

Addison had 19 rushing plays for 154 yards, 13 passing plays for 176 yards and ran 32 total plays for 330 total yards.
Meek had 28 rushing plays for 50 yards, five passing plays for 8 yards and ran 33 total plays for 58 total yards.
Addison’s Roberts went 6-for-7 for 123 yards and three touchdowns. Wiggins went 5 for 6 for 53 yards.
Meek’s McCay went 2-for-5 for 8 yards and an interception.
Addison was led in rushing by Smith with four carries for 74 yards and three touchdowns. Roberts had five carries for 39 yards and a touchdown. Wilkins had one carry for 18 yards. Wilson had four carries for 13 yards. Wiggins had three carries for 4 yards and a touchdown.
Meek was led in rushing by Ethan Miles who had nine carries for 57 yards. Jonah Holt had five carries for 12 yards.
Addison had Lane with two catches for 50 yards and a touchdown. Lee had one catch for 27 yards and a touchdown. Gaither had one catch for 20 yards and a touchdown. Flynn had one catch for 18 yards. Wilson had two catches for 12 yards. Brady Daniel had one catch for 12 yards. Kash Turner had one catch for 11 yards. Ben Bridges had one catch for 5 yards. Wilkins had one catch for 8 yards, and for the third consecutive game had a touchdown reception called back due to penalty.
Meek had Hunter Wyatt with one catch for 10 yards.
On defense, Addison was led by Scout Flynn, Michael Lee, Joey Wilson, Judah Wilkins and Major Snoddy with four tackles each. Bryn Lake and Nick Nail each had three tackles. Lee, Snoddy and Dahl Miller each had a sack. Snoddy had an interception. Wilson had a fumble recovery and Flynn had a forced fumble.
Meek had Payton Deerman, Parker Ferguson, Reese Guthrie and Wesley Mitchell with four tackles each. Casen Harbin, Colby Williams and Max Powe had three tackles each. McCay, and Camden Henderson had two each. Mitchell and Deerman each had a sack.
