Dr. Henry S Beeler, Jr, age 87, of Cullman, Alabama, peacefully slipped away on May 26, 2026, after a brief stay in the hospital.

Henry was born on January 15, 1939, in Lebanon Junction, KY, to Henry S Beeler, Sr and Lillie Pearl Monroe Beeler.

Preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Martha Ann Newton Beeler; his son, David Andrew Beeler, and grandson, Cole Hansen Kilgore. And, also by his siblings: Duard Jackson Beeler, Mary Lou Beeler Smith and William Pope Beeler.

He is survived by his loving children: Henry Stewart Beeler, III (Kathy), M Shawn Jaquiss (Ian), Rebekah Lili Speakman (Dell); grandchildren: Brian McCarthy Jr. (Laura), Sarah McCarthy, Joseph McCarthy and Lily Jaquiss; great grandchildren: Wyatt McCarthy and Gloria Grace McCarthy.

Henry attended St. Benedict Catholic School in Lebanon Junction, KY from 4th grade until he graduated high school in 1957. He attended college and medical school at the University of Kentucky in Lexington where he graduated in 1961 and from the medical school in 1965, respectively.

Henry and Martha began dating when they were young teenagers and were married in 1962. After medical school, Henry made good on his ROTC commitment and joined the Army. He was stationed in Denver, CO, then Fort Dix, NJ before being sent to Germany where he was in the 8th Infantry Airborne Division.

Henry and Martha began their family with the birth of their first son, Henry Stewart, in Lexington, KY. After graduation, the family moved to Denver, CO where David was born, then Fort Dix, NJ for two years and then several years in Bad Kreuzenach and Augsburg, Germany where Shawn was born. Rebekah was born stateside in Hartford, KY before the family finally settled in Cullman in 1974. Henry practiced medicine in Cullman for 47 years serving patients in his private practice, and at Woodland Hospital (formerly Doctor’s Hospital) until it closed in 2009 and at Hanceville Nursing Home until he retired in 2021.

Henry was a devoted husband and father who was never too tired or busy to help with a homework assignment, to attend school events or teach a new skill in his woodworking shop. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, birdwatch, garden and walk in the woods. He was also active in working with and supporting Boy Scout Troop 321. Henry was an avid reader with wide-ranging interests and stacks of books next to his favorite recliner. He was a devout Catholic and was active at Sacred Heart Church serving as a Deacon for a time, participated in the Cursillo movement and was a devoted parishioner. He loved to travel. Henry and Martha visited 49 states, multiple European countries. They also traveled to Kenya to provide medical care with Kenya Relief.

Henry will be laid to rest beside his wife, son and other family in Lebanon Junction, Kentucky.
