CULLMAN, Ala. – Curt’s Closet is set to take on the Sprout Fiber Internet and Cullman Electric Cooperative team as they host a free charity softball game Thursday, July 30, at 6 p.m. at Champion Field at Ingle Park to support Curt’s Closet’s annual back-to-school drive. Community members are invited to attend, cheer on the teams and donate new or gently used clothing, shoes, accessories, including backpacks, along with new undergarments and socks, to help local children prepare for the upcoming school year. Monetary donations will also be accepted.
In addition to the game, the evening will feature raffles, prizes, giveaways and activities for children. Admission is free, concessions will be available and free popcorn will be provided.
“Our back-to-school season is one of the most important times of the year for Curt’s Closet, when we serve over 1,500 kids during our back-to-school event,” said Ashley Wilson, founder of Curt’s Closet. “Seeing two teams come together, not just to play ball and have a good time, but to lift up local kids means more than I can put into words. This community makes sure no child walks into school feeling less than their friends.”
Curt’s Closet works to ensure local children and teens have access to clothing, shoes and other everyday essentials, while also providing assistance to families during emergencies. Wilson shared that community support through these events help make the organization’s mission possible.
“We started Curt’s Closet because we believe a child’s circumstances should never define their potential,” Wilson added. “Events like this one remind us just how much this community cares. Every donation that comes through that gate is going straight to a Cullman kid who needs it — and that means everything to us.”
