Chad Allen Quattlebaum, 47, was born on August 7, 1978, in Decatur, Alabama, and passed away on July 21, 2026, after a long battle with health issues. Chad’s life was marked by a steady resilience and a kind-hearted spirit—one that kept reaching for joy, laughter, and connection, even when the road was hard.
Born to Greg and Janice Quattlebaum, Chad grew up with a love for people and a gift for bringing lightness into everyday moments. He attended West Point High School and was an avid fan of Alabama Football.
Chad enjoyed life even if it was a little different than some others. He enjoyed his Special Ministry class at Shoal Creek Baptist Church, which he had been involved in for many years.
He was also involved in Special Olympics Alabama for many years. In 2016, he was a member of Team Alabama competing at the 2006 Special Olympics USA Games in Ames, Iowa, where he competed in bowling. In 2011, he switched over to golf and in 2018 was able to represent Team Alabama in Seattle, Washington, to compete with his brother, Todd, as his partner—an experience that reflected both Chad’s determination and the closeness he shared with family. He didn’t always win, but he always had fun, and that joyful outlook—paired with his warm humor—made every trip, tournament, and gathering better simply because he was there.
Beyond competition, Chad enjoyed archery, going to Disney, and other church trips—pursuits that fit his spirited way of embracing life and making the most of each day.
Chad was preceded in death by his father, Greg Quattlebaum, from whom he got his love of golf; his grandparents, Charles and Virginia (Mewbourn) Quattlebaum, Junior and Mary (Bullard) Roberts.
He is survived by his mother, Janice Quattlebaum; brother, Todd (Kristie) Quattlebaum; and nephew, Tyler Quattlebaum. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends also survive him.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 10 a.m. until the Celebration of Chad’s life, which will begin at 12 p.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery.
