HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Hanceville Parks & Recreation will host its annual Kids Fish-O-Rama on Saturday, May 23, at Veterans Memorial Park, with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. Fishing will take place from 8-11. The event is open to children ages 14 and younger. Registration is free.

“We are incredibly excited for this year’s Fish-O-Rama events,” said Hanceville Parks & Recreation Director David Wasilewski. “This is one of our favorite community traditions, and we’ve been hard at work getting everything ready at Veterans Memorial Park. Seeing the community come together at the pond is what makes this event so special.”

Participants will not only get to enjoy a morning of fishing, but lunch will also be provided. Trophies will be awarded throughout the divisions, as well as door prizes, during the event.

Assistant Director Garrett Gilliland said park organizers are looking forward to another fun weekend in Hanceville with the Fish-O-Rama.

“It’s all about making memories and, hopefully, catching ‘the big one,’” Gilliland said. “We have some fantastic door prizes and trophies lined up and we can’t wait to see the young anglers showing off their skills.”

In addition to the children’s event on Saturday, Hanceville Parks & Recreation, alongside the Cullman County Commission on Aging, will host Senior Fishing Day for participants ages 55 and older on Friday, May 22. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m., with fishing starting at 8. Final weigh-ins will take place at 11. Multiple trophies will be awarded, and lunch will be provided for participants.
