CULLMAN, Ala. – The Bloomin’ Festival returns this weekend to the grounds of St. Bernard Abbey and Preparatory School, offering unique arts and crafts, demonstrations, food, live music and more.
Festival Director Joyce Nix said there will be over 160 booths with handmade items like birdhouses, jewelry, clothing, pottery, soaps and candles. Live demonstrations will take place throughout the event.
“We have such a big selection,” Nix said. “You name it, it’s here.”
Besides shopping, visitors can watch demonstrations by artisans such as a chair caner, blacksmith, broom maker and a chainsaw artist who will carve on-site.
Student performances are set for Sunday at 1 p.m.
Food vendors will serve a variety of choices, like barbecue, hamburgers, hot dogs, Polish sausage, funnel cakes, fried Oreos and fresh-squeezed lemonade. Specialty treats include homemade cheese straws, fudge, strawberry waffles and the wildly popular Monk Bread.
Nix said the festival remains consistent, with about 165 booths and still focusing on being family-friendly.
“This festival is critical to the operation of our school,” she said. “Our students and their families have worked hard to help prepare, and we have many volunteers coming out to support it.”
The festival is the largest fundraiser annually for the operation and maintenance of St. Bernard Prep.
Visitors are advised to wear comfortable shoes, bring sunscreen and be ready for sunny weather.
The festival runs Saturday and Sunday, April 18-19, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day. One of the main attractions is a 2026 Buick Encore giveaway at 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is a suggested $10 donation (kids 12 and younger get in free). No pets, please.
