CULLMAN, Ala. – Football season is officially back, and while fans will have to wait one more week for the regular season to kick off, most Cullman-area teams are set to play in jamboree games this weekend. Cold Springs, Hanceville, Good Hope and Fairview fans will have to wait until the start of the regular season to see their squads, but tonight, Vinemont will kick off what should be an exciting first look at the 2026 season.
Thursday, August 13
East Lawrence at Vinemont, 7 p.m.: The East Lawrence Eagles are coming off a 2-8 2025 season, and will travel to Vinemont for a true showcase game. The varsity squads will play two-and-a-half quarters against one another, giving both head coaches enough time to judge their rosters, and the junior varsity and middle school teams will both get two drives a piece.
Friday, August 14
Marion County at Addison, 7 p.m.: Friday night will give Bulldog fans their first look at the 2026 1A State Champ hopefuls. They’ll take on a familiar foe, with the Red Raiders last game being a 28-22 playoff loss at the hands of Mark Hastings’ squad that finished 12-2 last season.
Holly Pond at Curry, 6 p.m.: The Broncos will travel to Curry High to take part in one of the more interesting formats of jamboree week. Four teams will participate, with each “game” lasting one half. The Broncos will start the night with a matchup vs. Curry High. They’ll then take on a 1A power in Hubbertville in the second game of the night, which should give head coach Will McDaniel a good look at his roster as they take on a Lions team coming off a 12-1 season.
West Point at A.P. Brewer, 6:30 p.m.: Starting year three for head coach Kevin McCravy’s Warriors, they’ll head north to take on a Patriots squad that finished 4-6 last season. It’s another 2025 rematch, as Brewer’s final game of last season was a 24-17 victory at West Point.
Corner at Cullman, 6:30 p.m.: The Bearcats return to action on Friday night with a six-quarter event that will showcase Cullman Middle School’s 7th and 8th grade teams in addition to Cullman High School’s 9th grade, junior varsity and varsity squads at Oliver Woodard Stadium.
Saturday, August 15
Meek at Lynn, 7 p.m.: Daniel Evans’ Tigers will get their first action in a Saturday night matchup at Lynn High School against a team that finished 4-6 in 2025. Meek’s offense, led by senior quarterback Evan McCay, will get a chance to break in a fresh offensive line.
