Cullman man faces drug distribution charges following Hwy. 157 traffic stop

CULLMAN, Ala. — The Cullman Police Department said a Cullman man was arrested Sunday night following a traffic stop on Alabama Highway 157.

According to the CPD, Officer Hank Radcliff conducted the stop at around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16. Police identified the driver as Jason Watwood of Cullman.

During the stop, officers allegedly found Watwood in possession of what the department described as illicit amphetamine substances.

Following assistance from other officers assigned to Patrol Shift 2B and coordination with the Cullman County District Attorney’s Office, Watwood was arrested and charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance an unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

The CPD did not state why the vehicle was initially stopped, the quantity or form of the substance allegedly recovered or Watwood’s bond information.

The charges are allegations. An arrest is not evidence of guilt. Watwood is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
