HOOVER, Ala. – Alabama Republican Party Chairman and Alabama Public Library Service Chairman John Wahl on Tuesday, Jan. 27, announced his campaign for Alabama lieutenant governor.
Below is Wahl’s unedited announcement:
John Wahl, outgoing Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party, Today formally announced his campaign for Lieutenant Governor of Alabama following President Donald J. Trump’s public endorsement.
“President Trump understands that Alabama needs a Lieutenant Governor who will fight unapologetically for the America First agenda — and that’s why he endorsed me,” Wahl said. “Alabama can lead the nation in a conservative resurgence to protect our rights, our freedoms, and our values. Now more than ever, we need bold conservative leaders who will stand firmly on our platform, reject weak and lukewarm policies, and push back against the radical left.”
A lifelong Alabama resident, devoted Christian, and principled conservative, Wahl has built a record rooted in hard work and service. From his beginnings on his family’s farm in Limestone County to becoming one of the youngest and most effective Republican leaders in the country, his career reflects a deep commitment to grassroots conservatism and conservative victories.
Wahl has served as Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party since 2021. During his tenure, he brought new energy and a results-driven vision to the Party — raising more than $8.5 million, setting fundraising and attendance records, and helping organize the largest political event in Alabama history: the Cullman Trump Rally.
A consistent and trusted ally of President Trump, Wahl played a key leadership role in the 2024 Trump campaign, helping raise more than $2 million and mobilizing volunteers who knocked on more than 100,000 doors in critical swing states.
Under Wahl’s leadership, Alabama Republicans achieved historic success — flipping 90 seats statewide, building the largest grassroots network in state history, and advancing key conservative priorities including tax cuts, election integrity, school choice, and adoption reform.
“As Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party, I’ve been on the front lines defending our values and fighting for our freedoms,” Wahl said. “Now, I’m ready to take that fight to the Lieutenant Governor’s office. It’s time to secure our elections, rebuild our economy, create jobs, cut taxes, lower regulations, put parents back in control of their children’s education, and always put the people of Alabama first. It’s time for Alabama to lead the nation on conservative principles.”
John Wahl has also been a longtime ally of U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville. He worked on Tuberville’s 2020 campaign for U.S. Senate and later served on his transition team following the election.
“As Lieutenant Governor, I will always stand for the people of Alabama and never back down,” Wahl said. “Coach Tuberville is running for governor on a bold platform of returning power to the people. He will need a conservative fighter by his side, and if elected, I will proudly stand with him — and with President Trump — as we fight for the God-given rights and freedoms of the people of Alabama.”
