Cullman City School Board meeting notes: Jan. 20

    CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman City School Board at its last meeting recognized educators, approved contracts and reviewed personnel actions during its regular meeting. 

    During recognitions, the board honored new National Board Certified Teachers. Nicole Heptinstall, Loren Heatherly, Hannah Hunt and Tayler Davis received certifications in literacy, and Tasha Meyer earned certification as a library media specialist.  

    The board also proudly named Lacy Cameron of East Elementary School as Elementary Teacher of the Year and Michelle Greenlee of Cullman High School as Secondary Teacher of the Year. 

    The board approved an interagency agreement with WellStone Inc. to provide outpatient and crisis mental health treatment for students from January through July 2026. It also approved an independent contractor agreement with Howard Autism Learning Center LLC. This agreement supports school behavioral and educational programs through August 2026. 

    The consent agenda included the disposal of surplus music and art textbooks and obsolete handheld radios. The board also approved spring semester athletic and fine arts travel for Cullman High School students. 

    The board approved the retirement of Sharyn Hollingsworth, a teacher at West Elementary School. It also approved the conditional employment of Samuel Mazzara and Logan Young for special education roles. It approved coaching supplements, long-term substitute appointments and leaves of absence, as well as an Extended Day contract for Katie Smith. 

    The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Feb. 17, at 5 p.m. at East Elementary School.
