CULLMAN, Ala. – For the sixth straight year, Zach Lee, Brian Roberts and their team at Lowe’s of Cullman served the community in a Thanksgiving tradition that began in 2019.
What started as an effort to help a handful of families has become a well-known local outreach that now feeds residents across Cullman County.
The annual project has been noted in past Cullman Tribune coverage, including last year’s feature highlighting how the Lowe’s team prepared meals for community members in need.
It has also become part of a broader network of Thanksgiving assistance across the area, as shown by recent Tribune reporting on meal kit distributions and community holiday dinners hosted by groups such as The Link of Cullman County.
This Thanksgiving, the Lowe’s crew once again opened the store’s kitchen and pantry to prepare and deliver hundreds of hot meals for individuals and families facing food insecurity or hardship.
Working with local partners, the team provided full holiday dinners to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2214, Restoring Women Outreach, the Good Samaritan Health Clinic and the Pilot Light Home.
Each delivery included traditional Thanksgiving staples ready for families who may not have had the means to prepare a holiday meal.
After receiving meals for a local veteran household, Cullman VFW Post 2214 shared its gratitude, saying, “Thank you so much. Just know one of our veteran families will have an awesome Thanksgiving meal this year.”
The annual outreach has become a hallmark of the Lowe’s staff who return each year with the same focus, which is to serve quietly and wholeheartedly, and to make the season brighter for those who need it.
