CULLMAN, Ala. – After a few years off, WildWater Cullman’s trunk-or-treat event made its triumphant return Tuesday, Oct. 28, with more than 2,000 visitors to the family-friendly Halloween celebration.

WildWater General Manager Michael Schwitek said the event had been on pause while the park focused on its rapid growth and summer operations, but this year marked a successful comeback.

“It was like picking up right where we left off; there was just as much community excitement and participation as ever,” Schwitek said.

Decorated trunks competed for the “best decorated” title with some displays featuring favorite themes and characters, including Ratatouille, Inside Out, Legoland and Super Mario. The Ratatouille-themed trunk won first place, and Inside Out came in second. Families could also participate in a children’s costume contest, grab a bite to eat from local food trucks and get a chance to interact with Cullman Fire Rescue, which brought along a fire truck and a Dalmatian.

Schwitek said local families and businesses interested in joining next year’s event can reach out to the park directly at swim@cprst.org once planning begins.

Even though the park is now closed for the season, WildWater has more fun planned for the upcoming months, including its annual Polar Bear Plunge in January.

“We love seeing all the kids having fun, even when the park isn’t open,” Schwitek said. “It’s a great way to stay connected with the community year-round.”
