PREP FOOTBALL: Meek caps regular season with 34-6 win at Carbon Hill

CARBON HILL, Ala. – Meek made the trip to Carbon Hill for its regular season finale Thursday night, and the Tigers took control of this one early. Meek went into the locker room with a 22-0 advantage at halftime and maintained a comfortable lead throughout the second half on its way to a 34-6 win.

Parker Ferguson picked off a Carbon Hill pass early in the first quarter to set up the first Tigers’ possession and they capped a scoring drive with a 12-yard touchdown pass from Evan McCay to Brady Baxter. Aiden Benson punched in the two-point conversion to make it 8-0 with just over three minutes to play in the opening period. A 10-yard touchdown run by Benson added to the Tiger lead midway through the second quarter and McCay hit Ethan Miles for the two-point conversion to extend the lead to 16-0.

McCay hurt the Bulldogs with his legs later in the second quarter, running one into the end zone from 12 yards out to put Meek in front 22-0 going into the locker room at halftime.

Hunter Wyatt punched one in from a yard out later in the third quarter to make it a 28-0 game, but Carbon Hill responded with a scoring drive to trim the lead to 28-6 going into the fourth. Wyatt’s second touchdown run of the night stretched the lead to 28 midway through the fourth quarter and the Tigers cruised to a 34-6 win to finish the regular season 7-3.

Meek (7-3) will travel to Woodville for the first round of the state playoffs next week.
