BEAR CREEK, Ala. – Addison traveled to Bear Creek to take on the Phillips Bears Friday night, looking to close out their region slate undefeated. It was also Addison’s last regular season game since they have a bye week next Friday. Addison cruised to a 48-6 win and could have named their point total in this one.

Phillips won the toss and took possession at their own 30. Three plays later, two of them consisting of quarterback sacks, Phillips had lost 16 yards and punted.

It took the quick strike Bulldogs a whole play to get on the scoreboard. Bulldog QB Elijah Roberts hit Trennon Burns for a 22-yard touchdown pass and with the Connor Lane extra point, Addison led 7-0 with 9:35 to go in the first quarter.

Addison took over after another Bear three and out at the Bear 29-yard line. Two plays later, Roberts hit Judah Wilkins for a 30-yard touchdown pass.  Lane added the extra point and Addison led 14-0 with 7:39 to go in the quarter.

Addison forced a punt and, on the Bulldogs, next possession, Addison went 40 yards on six plays with Joey Wilson cashing it in from two yards out for the touchdown. The extra point was no good and with over three minutes to go in the first Addison upped the lead to 20-0.

After another punt, Addison took three plays to go 52 yards for their next score. Roberts hit Wilkins again this time from 20 yards out for the score. On the last play of the first quarter, Roberts ran in the two-point conversion and stretched Addison’s lead to 28-0 going into the second quarter.

The Bears picked up their first first down on their next drive which was still against the Bulldogs first string defense. The Bears got to their own 46 when Scout Flynn picked off a Bear pass and returned it to the Bear 15-yard line. On the next play, Wilson ran it in from 15 yards out for the score. Lane nailed the extra point and Addison led 35-0 with 6:54 to go in the half.

On the first play of the Bears next possession Burns picked off the Bear pass and returned it to midfield. The Bear defense stiffened and forced a Dawg punt. After an exchange of possessions, Addison took over at the Bear 39. On the Bulldogs’ first play, Roberts found Flynn for the 39-yard touchdown pass. Lane kicked the extra point, and the half would end with Addison leading 42-0.

The second half would have only ten-minute quarters instead of twelve and there would be a running clock. Addison took the second half kickoff and had Zane Smith run it in from 5 yards out for the Bulldogs last touchdown of the night. The extra point was no good and Addison led 48-0.

The Bulldogs put in the young pups for the second half and the Bears found a little room to move the ball and actually scored on a 20-yard touchdown pass from QB Trey Tidwell to WR Trey Gosa. The extra point was no good and Addison led 48-6.

There were only 21 total plays in the entire second half due to the clock circumstances and the main highlight after the two scores was a Cash Turner interception.

Addison came away with the 48-6 win and finishes their regular season at 9-1 (7-0 region). They will host a first round playoff game as the region champion in two weeks. The opponent is yet to be determined.
